CouponSwift browser extension: privacy policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026. Publisher: NETWISE MEDIA SRL, Bdul. Pipera 198 C, Bl. C1, Sc. A, Et. P, Ap. 4, 077190 Voluntari, Romania (EUID ROONRC.J2017002567239). Contact: hello@couponswift.com.
What the extension does
It shows CouponSwift coupon codes and deals for the store you are visiting, and offers a "Paste" button that puts a code you copied into the store's discount-code box.
What stays on your device
- The list of supported stores. It is downloaded once a day and compared with the site you are on inside your browser. Your browsing history is not sent to CouponSwift, and pages that are not supported stores are never contacted about.
- Your settings (theme, hidden sites) and the "paused on this site" state.
What is sent to CouponSwift, and why
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The store you are on (its CouponSwift store id, in the request address) | on supported stores | to load its offers |
The address of the store page you are on, without anything after the ? or #, and the text of buttons you click | on supported stores | to recognise cart, checkout and order-confirmation pages |
| Whether the discount-code box was found on the page (found / not found, no page content) | on supported checkout pages | to repair our store-specific settings when a store changes its page |
| A short list of shopping steps (code copied, code pasted, checkout page seen, order placed, order confirmation seen) with the store id, the code's id and an anonymous install id | on supported stores | to understand which codes lead to purchases |
| A snippet of the page around the discount-code box, taken just before and just after a code is applied, together with the code that was tried, the store and an anonymous install id | when a code is applied at checkout on a supported store | to know which codes work and fix the ones that do not |
| "Worked" or "Didn't work" with the store id and code id | when you press the button | to rate codes |
Cleaning of the snippet
Before a snippet leaves your device, names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, card numbers, bank account numbers and national identifiers are removed, as well as scripts, images, links and form values other than the code. If the cleaning cannot be completed for any reason, nothing is sent. Our server also rejects snippets in which it can still detect an email address, card number or bank account number.
Anonymous install id
A random identifier created when you install the extension. It is not derived from you or your browser. Uninstalling the extension deletes it from your device.
Affiliate links
CouponSwift earns a commission when you buy through our links. The first time you copy a code on a store (and again after about half an hour without a copy there, or after an order), the extension opens CouponSwift's link to that store in a background tab, brings you back to your page and closes that tab after about ten seconds, so the store can credit CouponSwift. This costs you nothing extra. The extension does not do this if the page you are on already carries another cashback or affiliate program's tracking, and it shows "CouponSwift is paused here" instead. The same explanation is shown once in the panel when you first open it, and stays in the settings.
Firefox
Firefox does not give an add-on access to websites when it is installed. CouponSwift asks for it on its settings page ("Allow access") and does nothing until you agree; you can withdraw it at any time under Add-ons and themes, CouponSwift, Permissions. In Firefox, "technical and interaction data" is an optional permission that you control in the same place and in CouponSwift's settings ("Usage data"). When it is off, the add-on does not send the shopping steps, the "found / not found" report or your "Worked / Didn't work" answers, and the checkout snippet carries a random one-off identifier instead of the install id.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, we do not read your passwords, payment details or the contents of pages other than the discount-code area described above, and we do not use analytics or advertising SDKs in the extension.
Legal basis and retention (EU/EEA)
CouponSwift is operated by NETWISE MEDIA SRL, Romania, which is the controller of the data described above. We process the store id, page address, shopping steps, checkout snippets and votes on the basis of our legitimate interest in showing you working codes and in being paid for the referrals we generate (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); the data is kept to the minimum described above and is pseudonymous (an anonymous install id, no account). Checkout snippets are deleted 90 days after they are received; shopping steps and votes are kept for 12 months and then deleted or aggregated. You can stop all processing at any time by uninstalling the extension or by pausing it everywhere in its settings. You have the right to ask what data is linked to your install id, to have it corrected or erased, to object to the processing and to lodge a complaint with the Romanian supervisory authority (ANSPDCP, www.dataprotection.ro) or the authority of your country. To exercise these rights, write to hello@couponswift.com and include the install id shown in the extension's settings.
