How we verify coupons
A coupon page is only useful if the codes work. This page explains what our labels mean and what happens when a code stops working.
Where codes come from
- Offers published by the stores themselves and by their affiliate programs
- Codes that stores give us for CouponSwift readers
- Codes submitted by readers through Submit a coupon
A new code is listed only after we have checked that it belongs to that store and describes a real offer.
What "Verified" means
A code is labelled Verified when we have confirmed that it applies a discount at that store's checkout for the offer described. We don't label a code Verified just because a store or a reader sent it to us.
A Verified code can still fail for you. Most often that's because:
- it applies only to certain plans or billing cycles (for example, annual plans only);
- it's for new customers only;
- it can't be combined with a sale that's already running;
- your order is below a minimum.
The code's description tells you what it covers, so read it before you check out.
What happens when a code stops working
When a code fails, we don't remove it straight away: codes sometimes fail for one account, one plan or a few minutes. We check it again at a different time. If it still fails, we mark it Expired and move it to the "Expired offers" section of the store page. Expired codes stay visible because some keep working for some accounts, but they are clearly marked.
Your votes
Every code has a "Did it work?" button. Your answer helps us in two ways:
- A run of "No" votes tells us to check a code again sooner.
- For codes that aren't verified yet, the success rate you see comes from these votes. We don't show a success rate for a code nobody has voted on.
Dates you can trust
The Updated date on a store page is the last time a code on that page was added or checked. If nothing changed, the date doesn't change.
Found a problem?
Tell us through the contact page. Include the store and the code's title (not the code itself) so we can find it quickly.
