Private digital journaling with free and paid membership plans.

Savings opportunities available through Day One coupon codes

Day One combines a free journaling plan with paid subscriptions and printed journals. Basic is $0 per year, Silver is $49.99 per year, and Gold is $74.99 per year. Students qualify for 25% off their first four years of paid subscriptions after confirming student status. Silver includes 25% off printed journals, while Gold includes 35% off. Eligible new subscribers can begin with a free one-month trial inside the app. The offers on this page belong alongside these distinct routes: a subscription promotion, student eligibility, a trial before payment, or the printing benefit included with a paid membership.

Service categories frequently on promotion

Silver and Gold are the paid plans available for subscription promotions. Both use annual billing and can be purchased through the app or the web. The local amount shown in the app or website depends on region and currency. A web subscription starts with the Silver or Gold selection before payment details are entered. Printed journals are a different purchase, with a membership benefit that changes between the paid tiers. Basic users can also order printed journals. Gift subscriptions provide access for a year through redemption, with their own eligibility rules rather than an ongoing recurring subscription.

Services usually excluded from promo codes

Printed journals are separately ordered purchases rather than the subscription itself. A Day One Book starts at $19.99 for 50 color pages, followed by $0.10 for each additional page. International orders can attract import fees paid by the buyer. Subscription fees also exclude applicable sales tax. Gift certificates have separate purchase and redemption rules: their sales are non-refundable, and an account already subscribed to Silver cannot redeem another Silver gift. When a subscription discount ends, automatic renewal uses the full subscription fee. These separate charges and membership rules determine the amount payable beyond an initial subscription promotion.

Impact of billing cycle on promotional price

Day One Silver and Gold use annual subscriptions; monthly subscriptions are not available. The subscription period is displayed when purchasing, and renewal continues for an equivalent period at the then-current subscription price. A promotional subscription returns to the full subscription fee when its discount period finishes. Cancelling stops the next renewal while leaving paid access available through the current term. Cancellation does not create a prorated refund for unused subscription time. A gift membership follows a different cycle: it is a one-time order, does not renew automatically, and returns to Basic if the recipient does not subscribe afterward.

Promo codes vs. automatically applied offers

A subscription coupon is entered through Add Promotion on the payment screen after signing into Day One settings. The student discount requires confirmation of student status through support using a current student ID photo or university email. Printed-journal discounts are included with Silver and Gold membership rather than described as the same subscription coupon. Gift certificates also follow separate redemption rules. Only one gift certificate can be active on an account at a time; a further certificate can be used after the membership expires. The subscription terms assign individual conditions to promotions and move discounted subscriptions to the full fee afterward.

Accessing active codes for Day One

For a Day One subscription promotion, sign into dayone.me/settings with the account that will receive the membership. Choose the option to subscribe to Silver or Gold, then open Add Promotion on the payment screen. Web subscription setup also places Go Premium under Account in Settings, followed by plan selection, payment details and Subscribe. Pricing depends on region and currency; confirmed web payment activates the subscription across all devices. Gift redemption is a separate route with account eligibility checks. Its refusal messages include an invalid certificate or an account that already has Silver, so those messages concern gift membership redemption. Scroll up for the current Day One offers.

Day One Coupon FAQ

Enter your Day One promo code through Add Promotion on the web payment screen after selecting Silver or Gold. The redemption route begins at dayone.me/settings with the Day One account receiving the subscription. In web Settings, Account contains Go Premium, which leads to choosing the paid plan. The payment screen provides the promotion option, while web payments are processed through Stripe. Prices displayed in the app or website reflect local currency and region. Once payment is confirmed, the subscription becomes active across your devices. Subsequent billing follows the subscription terms, including a return to the full subscription fee when a promotional period finishes.

A Day One gift voucher can be rejected because the certificate is invalid or the account already has Silver. Gift redemption has its own messages, separate from the subscription payment screen’s Add Promotion option. An invalid-certificate message calls for checking the PDF certificate and the account’s membership status. A correctly entered certificate that has not upgraded the account can be referred to support. An existing Silver membership makes that account ineligible for the gift upgrade. The certificate can instead be given to someone who does not already have Silver. Only one gift certificate can be used on an account at a time, with another available after expiry.

Day One offers students 25% off the first four years of paid subscriptions after confirming their student status. Confirmation uses either a photo of a current student ID or an email sent from a university email address to support@dayoneapp.com. The paid subscription choices are Silver and Gold, and both are billed annually. On the web, the subscription selection precedes the payment screen, where Add Promotion is available for a supplied coupon. The amount displayed reflects local region and currency. Subscription management remains with the platform used for the original purchase. After a discount period ends, renewal follows the full subscription fee under the subscription terms.

Day One discounted subscriptions automatically renew at the full subscription fee when the discount period ends. Each renewed subscription runs for a period equivalent to the previous term, using the then-current subscription price. Subscription details are managed through the platform where the purchase originated. Web customers reach Manage Subscription under Account in Settings, which opens the Stripe customer portal. That portal allows changes to the plan, payment details and cancellation. Ending automatic renewal leaves the existing subscription active until its paid period finishes. The cancellation itself does not provide a prorated refund of the subscription fee, while web refund requests follow a separate support process.

Day One Silver and Gold are available only as annual subscriptions, so their subscription discounts use annual billing. The paid plans can be purchased on the web or through the supported app stores. For a web purchase, Settings leads to Account and Go Premium, then the choice between Silver and Gold. The subscription period is displayed at purchase, and pricing depends on the buyer’s region and currency. The annual subscription renews for the same duration unless it is cancelled. A membership bought as a gift instead provides a year of access through redemption and ends without an automatic renewal charge.

Eligible new Day One subscribers can start a free one-month trial of Silver or Gold before paying. The app stores control free-trial eligibility, and a previous Day One trial can prevent another trial when changing tiers. On iPhone or iPad, the subscription flow starts in Settings with Upgrade to Day One Gold, followed by the plan choice. The purchase action is Subscribe or Begin Free Trial, with confirmation through the device’s purchase authentication. A confirmation screen appears after subscribing, and the selected features become available immediately. To avoid a subscription charge, the trial needs cancellation at least 24 hours before its end through the original purchase platform.

Day One web subscriptions are refundable within 14 days of purchase or renewal through support. The request needs the receipt number and User ID, and the Stripe customer portal handles cancellation rather than refund requests. Purchases made through an app store follow that platform’s refund process. Apple purchases use its problem-reporting service and are subject to Apple’s conditions, while Google Play purchases use Google’s refund workflow. Cancelling a subscription preserves access until the paid billing period ends. The terms do not provide a prorated refund simply for cancelling unused subscription time. Gift certificates have a separate rule: all gift certificate sales are non-refundable.

Starting a Day One Gold trial does not guarantee that your previous promotional Silver rate returns after cancellation. Beginning a Gold subscription or trial can close the original Silver subscription line associated with that rate. A legacy price lost through this change cannot be restored. Existing Silver subscribers also do not qualify for the Gold upgrade subscription trial, although Daily Chat has a separate free seven-day trial. For a paid web upgrade, Stripe prorates the difference for the remaining billing period and the next renewal uses the Gold rate. App Store upgrades instead charge Gold upfront and refund unused Silver time separately; Google handles its own billing adjustment.

Day One Silver includes 25% off printed journals, and Gold includes 35% off printed journals. Printed books are purchased separately from the recurring membership. Book creation and ordering take place in the iOS app for iPhone or iPad, beginning with Settings and Book Printing. The process lets you select journals, customize the design and preview the book before completing the order inside the app. Book payments support Apple Pay and credit or debit cards, with international customers required to use Apple Pay. Import fees assessed on international orders are paid by the buyer. Basic members can also create printed journals, with full-price printing listed for their tier.

Day One permits only one gift certificate at a time on an account, with another redeemable after the membership expires. A gift certificate applies Silver membership through the online redemption route after signing into the recipient’s account. An account already holding Silver is ineligible for that gift upgrade, including Silver purchased through an app store. The membership expiration can be checked in Settings. Gift memberships are one-time orders and do not automatically renew, so expiry returns the account to Basic unless it subscribes again. Past journal entries and content remain accessible and exportable on Basic. Redeemed certificates cannot be cancelled, and gift certificate sales are non-refundable.

Yes. A Day One coupon and a promo code are the same thing: paste the code in the promo field at checkout before you pay.
