How the Binance referral code works
The Binance referral code is meant for people who do not have a Binance account yet. It is entered during registration, and Binance's referral program then offers the new user trading fee rebate vouchers once the program's tasks are completed. Binance describes those tasks as a crypto purchase above a set amount and a minimum trading volume through Spot or Convert.
Binance's referral FAQ also says new users are entitled to one referral mode only, so plan on a single referral program for a new account.
Binance referral code and trading fees
Binance states that the Trading Fee Rebate Voucher can only be used to offset Spot trading fees. Binance's fee page lists the base Spot rate as 0.100% for makers and takers, or 0.075% when fees are paid in BNB. The voucher offsets Spot fees you pay; it is separate from those listed rates.
According to the FAQ, vouchers are distributed within 48 hours after each task is completed, should be redeemed within 7 days, and are valid for 14 days after activation.
Why a Binance referral code may not work
The reward depends on completing the tasks, not only on entering the code. Binance's FAQ says only trades made through Spot or Convert count toward the volume requirement, while API trading and trading bots do not. Deposits through a third-party payment method, internal transfers from another Binance account and crypto deposits do not count toward the purchase task.
A registration code applies only when you open a new account, so an existing Binance account cannot use it.
Other Binance fee reductions
Binance's fee page also lists a BNB discount on Spot fees and VIP tiers that lower rates as trading volume and BNB holdings grow. These reductions need no code, so they are separate from the Binance referral code.
Before using a Binance referral code
Binance offers Spot, margin, futures, options and P2P trading, and its site lists 24/7 chat support. Its footer states that Binance's ADGM entities are regulated by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Abu Dhabi Global Market.
