Linode customers who have already redeemed a promo cannot redeem another for continued service. Akamai limits redemption to one promotion per business, including any promotion redeemed previously by you or your business. Continued Linode usage follows hourly billing rather than a prepaid hosting renewal: charges accrue while a service remains on your account, with monthly caps for services that have them. In Cloud Manager, Administration > Billing shows Accrued Charges and your account balance. Invoices are generated on the first day of each month, and the default payment method pays the amount due. For your next bill, review Accrued Charges against the remaining promotional balance instead of treating an earlier credit as a recurring discount.
Linode’s seven-day guarantee covers eligible service charges paid with a valid payment method; promotional credits are excluded from cash refunds. A refund request for account cancellation belongs in the cancellation form’s comments or an email to support@linode.com. Cloud Manager places the Close Account panel under Administration > Account Settings, and closing the account permanently removes its services and data. Outside the initial seven-day cancellation exception, refunds of a positive paid balance carry a $5 processing fee. Payments must have been made within the previous 180 days, and approved refunds return to the original payment method. Before requesting a refund, separate the money you paid from promotional credit, because only the paid balance qualifies for a cash refund.
Linode requires an eligible account, an available first promotion, and the right user permissions before a promo can be added. For an account created previously, it must be less than 90 days old, have no negative balance, and have no other promo already applied. The signed-in user needs unrestricted permissions, and adding a promo is unavailable on a child account in a parent-and-child relationship. In Cloud Manager, open Administration > Billing, select Add a promo code under Account Balance, and submit it with Apply Promo Code. Linode promo codes cannot be transferred to another team or business. Akamai’s redemption conditions make promotions nontransferable and limit each business to one redemption. For a team using the same account, Cloud Manager lets an administrator manage users and billing access without moving the promotion to a different account. The existing promotional balance remains visible through Administration > Billing, where Promotions shows its remaining value and expiration date. Credits apply automatically to the next invoice, while that invoice details the services charged to the account. An account administrator can also arrange billing access for the people who need invoice copies. For shared billing oversight, give the relevant team member billing access on the credited account rather than passing the promotion to another business.
Linode trial credit expires when its trial period ends, even when some of the credit remains unspent. The trial allowance must be used during the offer’s specified period, and usage beyond the allowance is charged at standard rates. Cloud Manager shows an active promotion’s expiration date and remaining balance under Promotions in Administration > Billing. Accrued Charges on the same page shows usage charges since the previous invoice, helping you relate the remaining allowance to services already deployed. Powered-off Linodes still accrue charges because they remain on the account. For the next invoice, compare the expiration shown under Promotions with Accrued Charges; a remaining trial balance is useful only while its promotional period is still active.
Linode lists applicable taxes on customer invoices, while its published service prices exclude taxes. Customers in locations where Akamai must collect tax are charged the applicable rate for taxable services billed to their account. Account credits, including promotional credits, apply automatically to the next invoice. To inspect the billed services and tax amounts, open Cloud Manager and go to Administration > Billing, then Billing & Payment History. Each invoice provides the service’s active period, hourly rate, and total charge, so it gives a fuller breakdown than the account’s remaining promotional balance. Your billing contact information supplies the name, address, company, and tax ID used for invoices. For an accurate invoice record, update those details through the billing contact settings before relying on the invoice for accounting.
Linode’s free-credit offer covers eligible Compute plans, Object Storage, Block Storage, and NodeBalancers; GPU plans are excluded. The allowance becomes usable after completing signup and accepting the Terms of Service.
